🔸 First: General Guidelines for Community Responsibility
Compliance with National Laws and Policies: Initiatives must align with the country’s laws and regulations and must not conflict with religious or cultural values.
Transparency and Credibility: Clearly announce the initiative’s objectives, funding sources, implementation mechanism, and outcomes.
Prohibition of Personal or Commercial Exploitation: Initiatives must not be used for misleading publicity or for direct commercial gain.
Justice and Equality: Initiatives should be directed to all segments of society without discrimination or bias.
Coordination with Relevant Entities: Collaborate with related governmental or private entities to ensure integration and avoid duplication of efforts.
Safety and Legal Responsibility: Ensure the safety of beneficiaries and compliance with security and safety regulations during the implementation of initiatives.
Evaluation and Follow-Up: Measure the impact of the initiative and assess its outcomes using objective and reliable methods.
🔸 Second: Rights in Community Responsibility
The Institution’s Right to Community Contribution: Every institution has the right to choose the areas of community responsibility that align with its nature of work and capabilities.
Community’s Right to Benefit: The community has the right to benefit from initiatives in a fair and organized manner, according to clear standards.
Right to Transparency and Accountability: The community and relevant stakeholders have the right to access the details of initiatives, their funding sources, and their outcomes.
Right to Partnership and Collaboration: Institutions and individuals have the right to cooperate with other parties to implement joint initiatives that serve the goals of sustainable development.
Right to Recognition and Incentives: Entities that adhere to social responsibility deserve appreciation and both moral and material support from the state and society.
Right to Reputation Protection: Institutions or individuals participating in social responsibility must not be defamed unless misconduct or exploitation is proven.

Volunteer Rights in Voluntary Work

🔸 Volunteer Rights (According to the Volunteer Guide issued by the University of Jeddah Volunteer Center)
Informing the Volunteer Applicant about the Status of Their Application: The university commits to notifying all applicants about the receipt of their applications. It also commits to informing them of the outcome, whether acceptance or rejection, providing reasons for rejection if possible, and referring them to other volunteering opportunities or relevant entities.
Providing Appropriate Guidance to the Volunteer: Every volunteer has the right to receive proper guidance from the university, which includes an introduction to the university and the sector in which they will volunteer, the roles and tasks they will perform, and the individuals they will interact with.
Informing the Volunteer of Their Role and Authorities: The volunteer is provided with a description of their volunteer role according to the standards outlined in the Policies and Procedures Guide, and has the right to review it. Both the university and the volunteer are bound by the limits of this role, and no changes or joint updates to the role shall be made without the approval of the department implementing the volunteering opportunity.
Applying to All Available Opportunities: The volunteer has the right to apply for all opportunities announced by the university and may undertake them as long as they meet the specific requirements of the volunteering opportunity. The volunteer also has flexibility in choosing the time, place, and method of volunteering, provided it does not conflict with university policies or the requirements of the volunteering opportunity.
Informing the Volunteer of Their Reporting Line: The volunteer is introduced to the administrative and technical authority to whom they report during their volunteering role. They are provided with all contact details of their direct supervisor and the person responsible for training, guidance, and providing feedback during their work.
Inclusion and Respect: The volunteer has the full right to a work environment that provides proper appreciation and respect, and their opinions, suggestions, and feedback are to be considered as those of a valued member of the university.
Safety and Security: The volunteer has the right to perform their volunteering role in an environment free from risks that could threaten their physical or psychological safety. The university is required to provide the necessary knowledge and material support regarding safety procedures and tools, including instructions on how to use them, based on the risk assessment conducted by the organization and as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Guide.
Feedback: The university, represented by the Volunteer Work Center, collects feedback from volunteers regarding the performance of the university department, the nature of their volunteering role, and the interaction with their supervisor and staff. This feedback is considered in the development and improvement of volunteering programs at the university.
Training and Development: Every volunteer undergoes a training period under the supervision of the University of Jeddah Volunteer Work Center to prepare volunteers before performing any volunteering tasks. For certain specialized volunteering roles, a specific training program is provided to ensure proper performance of those tasks.
Confidentiality of Information: The university collects the volunteer’s contact information and certain personal data and commits to maintaining the confidentiality of this information. It shall not be disclosed to any third party without the volunteer’s knowledge, nor used for any purpose other than that for which it was collected. The university assumes legal responsibility regarding this matter.
Absence: The volunteer has the right to be absent for a valid reason or emergency, provided they inform their direct supervisor at least 24 hours before the scheduled time or at the earliest possible opportunity.
Grievance: The volunteer has the right to submit a grievance or complaint regarding any decision, behavior, or management practice that contradicts their volunteering role or the organization’s volunteering policies and standards. This process is carried out in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Policies and Procedures Guide.
Recognition and Appreciation: Every volunteer who demonstrates positive commitment to the university, represented by their respective university departments, has the right to receive recognition and appreciation that aligns with their needs and preferences, within the university’s available resources. Their feedback and needs are considered as part of the recognition plan to ensure it supports the university’s mission.
Termination of Agreement or Changing the Volunteering Opportunity: The volunteer may terminate their agreement with the university, represented by the department in which they volunteer, or change the volunteering opportunity they are undertaking at any time, provided that this does not affect the core operations of the university or its commitments toward them. Their feedback and observations regarding the university and their volunteering experience are collected when terminating the agreement or changing the volunteering opportunity.
